The advanced distillation plant with an annual distilling capacity of 225,000 tons of crude tar was built in 1983 and is equipped with all modern facilities enabling production of high quality pitch and tar oils to customers' own specifications. In 1990 a new Naphthalene distillation plant with an annual capacity of 30,000 tons came on stream. Extensive tank storage capacity, own harbor facilities and railway track ensure high flexibility. The company was formed in 1987 as a result of a joint venture between Koppers and a Danish company with experience in the tar business dating back to 1919. Koppers Denmark became a fully owned subsidiary of Koppers Inc. in 2000.
